According to the report available on INE’s website, in the second quarter of 2024, the country’s hotels registered 238,058 guests, who generated 1,176,165 overnight stays, representing increases of 10.3% and 9.2%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2023.
Sal Island continues to be the most sought-after island, accounting for 58.7% of hotel entries, followed by Boa Vista with 23.7%, Santiago with 9.6%, São Vicente with 3.3%, and Santo Antão with 3.2%. The remaining islands accounted for 1.6% of the entries.
In terms of overnight stays, Sal Island remained in the lead with 54.8%, followed by Boa Vista with 37.4%, Santiago with 3.9%, São Vicente with 1.6%, and Santo Antão with 1.2%. The remaining islands accounted for 1.0% of the overnight stays.
In this quarter, tourists from the United Kingdom continued to be the most frequent visitors to Cape Verde (30.6%), while residents of Finland stood out as those who stayed the longest in Cape Verde, with an average stay of 7.6 nights.
Tourists stayed an average of 4.8 nights in hotel establishments, and the overall bed occupancy rate averaged 53%.
Hotels remain the most popular accommodation, representing 80.5% of total entries, followed by aparthotels with 14.7%, residences with 2.9%, and guesthouses with 1.3%.
In terms of overnight stays, hotels represented 82.9%, aparthotels 14.7%, residences 1.4%, and guesthouses 0.7%.
