Born in São Vicente and currently living on Sal Island, where he works in the hospitality sector, Ednilton turned his dream into reality after being officially selected by the contest’s organization to represent the archipelago. The opportunity arose when he questioned why Cape Verde was not among the participating countries — a remark that led the committee to review his profile and approve his application.
“It’s a true honor to walk the stage for my country and show the strength and identity of Cape Verdean people,” says Ednilton, who has already placed second in two categories, including Mister Popular Choice.
Despite the lack of support from public and private institutions, he highlights the contribution of the Sal Municipality, through its Department of Culture, which made his participation possible. “I still believe Cape Verdean youth deserve more encouragement to pursue their dreams,” he emphasizes.
For Ednilton, this competition is more than a beauty pageant: “It’s about taking Cape Verde’s voice to the world, breaking stereotypes, and showing that men, too, can shine in events that celebrate beauty and culture.”
Beyond modeling, Ednilton is also passionate about dance and has choreographed for the well-known carnival group Cruzeiros do Norte. After the contest, he plans to continue improving his craft and inspire other young people to believe in themselves.
“Nothing is impossible, and it’s never too late to fight for your dreams,” concludes Cape Verde’s representative.
